General Grenville M. Dodge has been called “the greatest railroad builder of all time” and is perhaps the most famous resident of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
He built his Victorian style home in 1869 at the cost of $35,000 which was very expensive at the time. It has 14 rooms, 3 floors, parquet floors, beautiful woodwork and many unusual “modern” conveniences that make the home quite unique.
General Dodge has been seen many times by visitors, appearing as a shadow walking the hallways. Bright balls of light have been seen in the home at night and outside on the grounds. Often, two disembodied male voices are heard arguing.

Investigators: Johnand Mark
12:00 noon Mark and John started an EVP session in the museum that is next to the house. They used an EM pump to help generate spirit activity. John sensed the presence of an elegant family that once lived within the home.
1:00pm They left the museum and went next door to General Dodge’s home. John felts he was watched as he walked from room to room with the K2 meter spiked many times from the base reading of .2 to 4.0. The home was immaculate and a true showplace filled with exquisite antiques and a feeling almost of royalty. This home was defiantly one of the most finely detailed homes that John has experienced, and he has traveled the world. John fully believes that the General is still in charge there.
